New Parent Portal Coming to Your School
FOCUS is a new, web-based student information system that will allow Manatee County Schools to merge all student record keeping, grades, scheduling, attendance and other student-data into one user-friendly system. It is replacing the outdated TERMS student information system and positions our school district to adapt and meet future student data needs.
One of the outstanding features of FOCUS is that it includes an easy-to-use Parent Portal that will allow parents of students at all grade levels in the Manatee District to view their children's grades, assignments and attendance online. Currently, through the Pinnacle grade-book program, only parents of middle and high school students have access to their child's classroom information online.
Although the implementation process for FOCUS has already begun, it will take time to fully implement. Teachers and staff need to become familiar and adept with the various tools and applications, and schools need time to inform parents how FOCUS will benefit them and to begin registering parents for the Parent Portal.
Due to the initial phase of this implementation process, parents of middle and high school students will not have access to the Pinnacle grade-book program, or any other online course information about their students during the first semester of the 2011-2012 school year. Parents of middle and high school students are expected to have access to the new FOCUS Parent Portal starting with the second semester of the 2011-2012 school year.
Parents of students in elementary school are expected to have access to the Parent Portal beginning with the start of the 2012-2013 school year.
