|This year is my thirty fifth year teaching in Manatee County. My Bachelors Degree in Elementary Education is from the University of South Florida, and my Masters Degree in Elementary Education is from Nova Southeastern University. In November of 2004, I received my National Board Certification as a Middle Child Generalist through the National Board of Professional Teaching Standards (NBPTS).
I have been married for 37 years. My amazing husband, Tom, is a retired elementary school principal from Manatee County. We enjoy playing golf, traveling, reading and going out to dinner. In addition, I love to bake...cookies are my specialty!
We have two amazing adult sons. Our oldest son, Chris is an accountant. Chris is married to Lauren McHugh Wailand. We have a new member of the Wailand family. Grandson Ty Joseph was born June 1, 2011. What a special baby he is!
Ty's mom, Lauren teaches second grade this year It is wonderful to have the opportunity to work together and to see Lauren each day. I feel so lucky!
Our younger son, Jeff recently completed his degree in Finance from the University of South Florida. He resides in Atlanta, GA.
||I have taught in many schools in Manatee County, and I have experience teaching grades one through five. I transfered to Rowlett Elementary when our school first opened in 2000. Each loop is an opportunity to meet new students and their parents. With new students entering our classroom, we help them to become aware of the culture of our school and classroom. I look forward to welcoming my new 4th graders back to school!|
Rowlett is truly a fantastic place to work. The families, coworkers and kids couldn't be more supportive.
I am proud to work at such a wonderful, family oriented school. There is no finer school in Manatee County!
