Courses offered at Horizons Academy include Reading, Mathematics, Language Arts, Science, Social Studies, Health, and Physical Education. All Horizons Academy High School credits are transferable to the students zoned high school upon their return. All Horizons Academy teachers are fully certified by the Florida Department of Education. Students receiving special services with the need for transitional or alternative placements are referred from the special education office. Students typically have both an Individualized Educational Plan (IEP) and identified issues in need of intervention before reintegration into the regular school environment. Qualified students are either mainstreamed into regular alternative education classes or placed in a self-contained setting. Programs include both academic and behavioral intervention. |
