History of EdVantage

The Strategic Plan for the Manatee County School District was developed by 36 members of the Strategic Planning Core Team and over 100 members of the Action Teams and Measurement Team with representation from the community and from our school district. The School Board approved the plan on May 18, 2005.

The  Plan , called EdVantage is comprised of a mission statement, core values, 
strategic objectives, six strategies, and a Measurement Plan .

The symbol of EdVantage is a triangle, Story of the Triangle, standing for the change needed to take our district from good to great. As we work together toward our objectives, our trust in each other can build through well managed promises. "Our Promise" shows how we can work together in a bond of trust as we work toward achieving these objectives outlined in EdVantage.

Any good plan has a solid measurement component.  In the fall of 2005, baseline data was collected, analyzed, and reported to serve as a reference point for monitoring the progress toward student achievement of EdVantage objectives through 2010.  We are continuing to collect data and monitor our progress through 2015.  

In 2008-2009, an evaluation of the implementation of the ePortfolio program was conducted. The ePortfolio program is a program in which students under the direction of their teachers create electronic portfolios. The electronic portfolios demonstrate student knowledge, understanding, and involvement with the strategic objectives. The ePortfolios have been used as a tool for measuring student progress toward attainment of the strategic objectives. (Executive Summary 08-09)
