Why did I become a National Board Certified Teacher?

I looked into becoming a NBCT because there was no other option available to me, as a teacher, to guarantee a substantial increase in my pay each and every year.

Many states have embraced the concept of National Board Certification for teachers. Florida is one of the few states who financially make it possible to go through the process. Yes, process. NBCT is a process that can take between one and three years. There is a great deal of research that shows that National Board Certification improves student achievement in America's schools. You can promote excellence in teaching as you do each and everyday and be rewarded financially for your efforts.

Prior to becoming a NBCT I knew I was a “good” teacher. Now, I know I am a “great” teacher.

What does it take on your part to become a NBCT? Commitment is the answer. You will need to be willing to give up a year of your life and possibly two years of your life to commit to the excellence to becoming a NBCT.

Every person will have a different story to tell about how they were successful in becoming a NBCT. Each step along the process is a learning experience. I have no regrets. I encourage you to further check into this opportunity for self-growth and the ability to earn more money. YOU DESEVE IT!
